University of Mount Union creates new schools, discontinues majors

writing Minors in Earth science, geology, health, middle childhood education, physical education pedagogy, pre-ministry studies and public service and a concentration in astronomy will be discontinued, as well.  Mount Union, a liberal arts school with about 2,300 students, will develop plans for students enrolled in discontinued programs to enable them to complete degree requirements. Several programs will continue to exist as minors or contribute to the university s general education program, the school said.  Minors in communication studies, philosophy, religious studies and writing will continue to be offered.  A total of 36 students will be affected by the discontinuation of the majors and minors (14 seniors, 11 juniors, eight sophomores and three freshman). Six of the majors and two of the minors have students enrolled in them for fall 2021.

Commencement Speakers Say Adversity Has Set Them Up For Change Allen Lopez ’21 said he learned a lot at UT, from balancing a ledger to learning the Greek alphabet to even the proper form for deadlifting weights. The biggest lesson: adapting to change. “Not all change comes easily, not always is it by choice, but in order to grow, in order to survive we must all withstand change,” said Lopez, who earned a communication degree, in his commencement challenge speech to the College of Business. “It is through our ability and our requirement to adapt that we will hopefully see the horizon of a new normal soon, and although socially distant, we are definitely not alone.”

Nearly 1,800 students graduate from University of Tampa The school held its ceremony virtually, in the midst of continued uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.     Updated 3 hours ago Members of the University of Tampa’s administration approached the podium on Plant Hall’s grand staircase, one by one, to address students. “We know you are excited and anxious about what lies ahead,” UT president Ronald Vaughn said. “We, however, are confident in your future.” It was a pandemic-era graduation ceremony, held virtually and streamed to the public, with 1,781 students from 50 countries around the world receiving their degrees in UT’s 152nd commencement. UT made the decision to hold its ceremony online in February, citing concerns about health during the pandemic.
